If you're dying to escape the hustle and bustle of your city life and experience a charming coastal town, Newport, Rhode Island is the place to visit! For five months of the year, I called Newport home and fell in love with this town’s natural beauty. Here are my top six things to do and see that will have you gushing over this town’s natural beauty.
I lived on a sailboat for 7 months of my pregnancy. And I fully agree with you, that I've probably got a couple of screws loose in my head!
The natural and immediate question most people ask goes something to the tune of, "Hey crazy lady, what terrible sequence of events brought you to the point of spending some of the most uncomfortable months in your life on a 32 foot sailboat that barley fits one person comfortably?" This of course is a fair and honest question. Long story short, I saw an opportunity for an adventure that I thought I'd be crazy NOT to take.
Perched in one of Italy’s lesser know mountain ranges nicknamed the Alpini or “little Alps,” is a quaint mountain town that goes by the name of Limano. If you have even the smallest desire to immerse yourself in the true Tuscan culture, this little gem is a must have on your travel bucket list.
With a baby on the way, our trip couldn’t have come at a better time. We turned our summer vacation into a babymoon and I can honestly say we enjoyed one of the most beautiful spots on God’s green earth!
I feel like the biggest hippy when I wear my new John Lennon inspired sunglasses. These round shades are this season’s popular accessory for both men and women.

Sailing often has some great analogies to life events. One minute you’re plugging along with the fair winds and following seas, and the next you spot a storm on the horizon. But smooth seas never made a good sailor, and in life, I’m aiming to be a great sailor. So it was with open arms and a thankful heart that I received wonderful news of a small squall headed my way. I'm excited to share with you that a baby sailor will be joining our crew this Christmas!
For the past two years, I have lived on a sailboat in San Diego and I have dropped so many things into the water while getting on and off the boat. My iPhone has gone for a swim in the deep blue and we all know that phones aren't waterproof. Given my bad track record of dropping valuable items into the drink, there is a high chance that my wallet might go for a swim one day. Needless to say, a waterproof wallet is key for my lifestyle.
If you lived on the deep blue, what do you think you would miss the most about living on land?
It’s been a long time (almost two years) since I called a house or an apartment my home. I wouldn’t trade my experience of living on a sailboat for anything, but when I do get to travel (inland and not out to sea), I do cherish my time on land.
My life on a sailboat is always a fun conversation piece. Even if I’m trying my best to avoid the topic, some questions can’t be explained without having to mention my atypical living arrangement. Once the cat is out of the bag I can pretty much anticipate a lot of questions, like "wait, what... you live on a sail boat?"
A recent spontaneous trip took me on an Easter get-a-way that I won’t soon forget. Five hours of desert travel to the northeast of San Diego, the refreshing clear water of the Colorado river gathers in a Water Wanderer’s paradise, aka Lake Havasu, Arizona. The appropriately named Lake Havasu City is located on the lake shore. This small, friendly town is where I found my desert oasis.
